Visiting Us
Arriving
Sunday morning services begin at 10:00 AM from September through June.
Our "church year" is, essentially, the school year. The dates of first and last services of the "church year" very with the calendar.
On-street parking is easiest and closest.
We do suggest arriving a bit early, just so you are not rushed.
There is additional parking in the lot across North Main Street next to the Co-Op, and the municipal lot across Prospect Street from the Town Hall.
In general, we dress in better-casual clothes. Our children dress in clothes that can get messy during religious education activities such as painting or cooking.
During the cold weather, we use the chapel downstairs, for several reasons. Please follow our new no-stairs walkway, which goes there directly.
If you would like to learn more about us, please talk to the minister or ask any of us to have the minister call you.
Our email is <firstuniversalistorange@gmail.com> and the office phone is 978-544-6501.
A coffee hour (see below) follows the worship service with very few exceptions, giving rise to the joke that UUs worship the coffeepot.
Children
Children are always welcome at our worship services.
You are always welcome to join our Religious Education classes. If the children would like try our religious education classes, please ask the greeters or the nearest person. This is a small congregation and everyone does know everyone. We are all happy to help.
Worship
Our services typically include three to four hymns, a short meditation and prayer time, choir music, readings (one of them responsive), sermon/homily, and benediction.
Periodically we have lay speakers at worship services.
Coffee Hour
We invite you to join us for coffee or tea and refreshments after the worship service.
At coffee hour, adults chat and get to know one another better, while the kids play among us.
We look forward to talking with you and answering any questions that you may have.
WELCOME!
Instead of a creed, we have an Affirmation:
Love is the Spirit of this church,
And service its law.
This is our great covenant;
To dwell together in peace,
To seek the truth in love,
And to help one another.
And that's it!
